I spent all of yesterday and today in Pennsylvania for my step sister’s college graduation. It was so exhausting packing so many things into those 48 hours; moving her four cars worth of shit out of her apartment (on the third floor, thank you very much), potentially awkward extended family dinners (like, both of her divorced parents with both of their remarried families and then some all at one table), tagging along the senior bar crawl the night before having to wake up at the crack of dawn to get to the ceremony two hours early and save thirteen seats (where our party sung the graduation march loud enough for everybody to enjoy because they had the students walking out to silence), the three hour ride home, and unpacking the cars. Maybe that doesn’t sound like much. But it sure feels like it in both my energy level and my legs. My point is, I’m so grateful to have such talented, intelligent, exciting people in my life to make these exhausting weekends so memorable. My step family, my step family’s blood family, and step family’s step family all somehow made their way into my life over the course of these past twelve years in such wonderful ways. I’m a lucky lady.
